Story-Board

Hello all!

Had a little fun today trying to piece together some picture into some form of story-board. Nothing to flashy, but hopefully some pictures that might peak your imagination to create some story in your mind.

(Caution this is my first attempt.)

Enjoy!

A Little Portraiture

I see that a few of you have voted that you prefer portraiture over other kinds of pictures. Because I so much value your opinion I have decided to give you three pictures that I especially like when it comes to portraiture. I think I somewhat cheated on the last one in that it isn't "technically" portraiture. But I like it, so I'm posting it.

This picture I took during IPS.

I wanted a great portrait shot and I think I delivered. This picture was taken at Bridal Veil Falls near Multonomah Falls. The dashing gentlemen is Rowan Gillson one of the leaders of IPS. He is an incredible guy and you should visit his site! I would posit that he takes the best pictures of anything anywhere by anyone. He's just amazing! --- http://www.rowangillson.com/

During the IPS course one of our final assignments was to perform an actual photo-shoot for an actual client. Oddly enough my client ended up being my next-door neighbor. God is humorous like that. I took this image literally ON the water-front next to Down-town Portland. I used my telephoto lens to capture a more blurry background and crisper subject. Joelle is pretty much on the water while I was up on a bunch of rocks trying to not fall over.

I try to save personal favorites for last. This third image I took on the night that my brother (Josh) proposed to his now fiancée. My brother took Maren up to Mt. Tabor Park and as I hid in the bushes he popped the question! The irony to this picture is that Josh was supposed to have her there when it was still light out, that way I could get some good shots. Well, in reality they were quite late and the sun was literally almost completely gone. I used what knowledge of silhouettes I had and below is what the outcome was!

Flame

Hello again readers!

This post I would like to dedicate to... flame. I love taking pictures of fire, something about the color that intrigues me. How it is never still, constantly moving, cutting in and out, so to get the right picture the timing must be perfect.

Yet at the same time, you can always count on some fire to keep you warm, to light your way. Some comforts always resides in even the smallest flame. God tells us in Matthew
5:14-16 "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

During the time this was written a "lamp" would have been a flame. And as God puts it, we ARE His fire, we are the light of the world. We can literally make others glorify God simply by setting a Godly example, and shining our light for Him. And who knows, maybe, if each of our individual flames did our part, we could all explode in a glorious God-centered way that people couldn't help but stare at in amazement!

Yellow Flower

Hello readers!

So I took this picture some time ago and liked it quite a bit. I do wish my focus was directed more toward the flower rather than the stem. If I could do it over again I'd make sure and take it that way. However, I was up in a mountainousness region on my stomach and it was quite warm. So I didn't take my time.

I do appreciate though how this one flower can remind me of God's love. I was standing near the edge of a cliff way deep into the Multnomah Falls and just marveling at the beauty of nature. Then I looked down at my feet and saw this one tiny flower. Doesn't that describe how God has created all of nature, every last thing, yet He focuses on you and me individually, personally, on a daily basis? That astounds me.

Enjoy...
