A Little Portraiture

I see that a few of you have voted that you prefer portraiture over other kinds of pictures. Because I so much value your opinion I have decided to give you three pictures that I especially like when it comes to portraiture. I think I somewhat cheated on the last one in that it isn't "technically" portraiture. But I like it, so I'm posting it.

This picture I took during IPS.

I wanted a great portrait shot and I think I delivered. This picture was taken at Bridal Veil Falls near Multonomah Falls. The dashing gentlemen is Rowan Gillson one of the leaders of IPS. He is an incredible guy and you should visit his site! I would posit that he takes the best pictures of anything anywhere by anyone. He's just amazing! --- http://www.rowangillson.com/

During the IPS course one of our final assignments was to perform an actual photo-shoot for an actual client. Oddly enough my client ended up being my next-door neighbor. God is humorous like that. I took this image literally ON the water-front next to Down-town Portland. I used my telephoto lens to capture a more blurry background and crisper subject. Joelle is pretty much on the water while I was up on a bunch of rocks trying to not fall over.

I try to save personal favorites for last. This third image I took on the night that my brother (Josh) proposed to his now fiancée. My brother took Maren up to Mt. Tabor Park and as I hid in the bushes he popped the question! The irony to this picture is that Josh was supposed to have her there when it was still light out, that way I could get some good shots. Well, in reality they were quite late and the sun was literally almost completely gone. I used what knowledge of silhouettes I had and below is what the outcome was!
